Summer has started. In such a situation, it is important to take special care of eating habits. Otherwise health may be adversely affected. Generally, to stay healthy and fit in winter, it is advised to eat millet which helps in keeping the body warm but in summer, barley and millet are two such grains which keep the body cool.

Among coarse grains, barley is a useful grain for summer season. It can be included in the diet in the form of barley sattu and barley roti. There are many benefits of eating barley.

  • Barley is gluten free. Therefore, diabetic patients can easily include it in their diet. Barley Sattu not only cools the stomach but also helps in controlling blood sugar.
  • Barley flour is also rich in fiber. Apart from this, Vitamin B, Magnesium and essential nutrients are also easily available.
  • Barley flour can also be used for weight control. The fiber content helps control appetite.
  • Drinking barley flour sattu or barley water strengthens the digestive system. Barley flour has probiotic properties that help improve digestion.
