Menopause occurs when a woman does not menstruate for a year. Hormones fluctuate during menopause. This time is full of physical and mental problems. During this period, problems like irregular bleeding, mood swings, hot flashes, weight gain and insomnia occur. Eating a healthy diet is important to manage menopause symptoms. There are some things which should be avoided during this period. We will learn about 5 such things further. - Do not eat processed food
Avoid processed foods like chips or cookies. You may find these dishes delicious, but they are high in sodium and sugar. Consuming such things can cause flatulence. - avoid caffeine
Consumption of caffeine or alcohol should be avoided during menopause. Caffeine consumption can make hot flashes worse. Instead of drinking tea or coffee, you can consume green tea, peppermint tea or any other herbal tea. - do not eat fatty foods
Reduce saturated fat intake during menopause. Consumption of saturated fat increases cholesterol and increases the risk of heart disease. Foods like meat, whole milk, ice cream and cheese are high in saturated fat. Therefore avoid consuming these things. This can lead to weight gain during menopause. Weight gain can cause other physical problems. - do not eat spicy food
Excessive chilli and spicy foods should be avoided during menopause. Some experts believe that avoiding spicy foods may cause hot flashes during menopause. - Reduce consumption of sweet foods.
Avoid consuming too many sweets during menopause. Stress during menopause may cause you to crave sweets. But eating too much sweet will make you tired and your blood sugar level will increase, hence you should avoid sweet things.
