Organized by IGBC and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), this Congress on Green Built Environment But it is the biggest conference in Asia.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director Dr Vikas Kumar was on Saturday honored with the prestigious IGBC Senior Fellowship by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) at its 22nd Congress held in Bengaluru. This honor reflects his contribution in promoting green infrastructure not only in Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) but also in various Indian metros under operation.

Earlier there was no green building rating system specifically for metro systems. Recognizing this gap, in 2014, DMRC and IGBC collaborated to create the world’s first green certification criteria specifically for Mass Rapid Transit Systems (MRTC). This rating has been adopted by DMRC as well as other metros of India.

Earlier this year, the Metro building was declared ‘carbon neutral’. A residential colony in Noida was given to Metro Niketan.

DMRC’s metro stations constructed during the three phases have been certified Platinum as per IGBC, MRTS rating system. The Receiving Sub Station (RSS) along with its colonies and the Corporate Headquarters, Metro Bhawan have also been certified as Green Building by IGBC. Similar efforts will continue in the upcoming phase four under construction.
