DM Udhampur orders closure of 2 marriage halls, resorts for violating pollution control norms

Udhampur, 28 February (HS). District Magistrate Udhampur Saloni Rai has ordered the closure of two marriage halls and a resort for violating pollution control norms.

As per the directions of Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board and with the approval of the competent authority, the DM has taken action under Section 5 of the Water Pollution Act, 1981, Environment Protection Act, 1986 against Raghunath Palace, Thappa Palace and Bharat Resort under Udhampur district. Invoking Section 33(A) and Section 31(A) of the Prevention and Control of Air Pollution Act, 1974, a team of officials including representatives of Revenue, Police and PCB led by Tehsildar Udhampur Jai Singh inspected the identified establishments. has been closed.

The joint team not only facilitated the closure of the mentioned establishments but also guided the owners, urging them to strictly follow the PCB guidelines. The objective of this action is to ensure compliance with environmental protection and pollution abatement in the district.
