DM strict on traffic and waterlogging problem, said – now arbitrariness will not happen, carelessness will not be tolerated

Dehradun, 04 December (HS). District Magistrate Savin Bansal has adopted a strict stance on the traffic and waterlogging problems of Dehradun. He organized an important meeting on Wednesday to find a permanent solution to the problem of jam and waterlogging at ISBT, Kargi Chowk and Turner Road. In the meeting, he gave clear instructions to the concerned departments that solutions to the problems should be visible on the ground as soon as possible. He warned the officials that delay or negligence in work will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The District Magistrate took a strict stance on unorganized parking and unauthorized parking of vehicles outside ISBT and directed that such vehicles should be seized immediately. He said that strict action would be taken against those loading and unloading passengers outside ISBT premises.

The meeting showed live telecast of the chaos of vehicles outside the ISBT with the help of drone cameras installed by the police. The District Magistrate directed to identify the main causes of the jam through drone monitoring.

Describing waterlogging on the roads as the main reason for the jam, the DM directed the concerned departments to complete all the drainage improvement works before the monsoon. He stressed on permanent solutions to prevent waterlogging.

The District Magistrate ordered to start the road widening work on Kargi Chowk and Saharanpur Road immediately. Instructions were given to install dividers on flyovers and prepare a detailed action plan to increase traffic ease and RTO and police were asked to keep strict vigil to ensure that vehicles stop at designated stops only. The District Magistrate said that it is our responsibility to provide relief to the public. Every department should ensure that the work is completed within the stipulated time.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Bir Singh Budiyal, Municipal Magistrate Pratyush Singh, Superintendent of Police Traffic Mukesh Kumar, Executive Engineer PWD Jitendra Kumar Tripathi, GM UTC Praveen Mehra, NHI Officer Naveen Kaushik and many senior officials were present in the meeting.
