DM inspected the Eastern Kosi embankment and spur regarding flood protection preparation and gave necessary instructions

Saharsa, May 22 (HS). District Magistrate Vaibhav Chaudhary inspected the flood protection preparations. First of all, he took stock of the flood protection preparations of spur number 96.60 located at Bhagwatpur Panchayat of Chandrayan, East Kosi embankment.

DM inquired from Executive Engineer Eastern Kosi Embankment Chandrayan about flood protection preparations of spur number 98.00 near Mahpura village of Mahisi block. He told that in the past, slight erosion was seen near the parkopine installed for the protection of spur number 98.00. Appropriate action will be taken soon to prevent it. It was also told that it is proposed to build a ghat at the temple situated at some distance from the spur near the Kosi river. The construction work of the ghat is proposed to be done after the monsoon.

Spur number 103.00 related to Rajanpur Panchayat of Mahishi block was informed during the inspection that adequate flood prevention arrangements have been made on both sides of the spur to prevent erosion. During the inspection of spur number 116.20 located in Panchayat Gordah, Block Salkhua under East Kosi Embankment Kopariya, the District Magistrate took stock of the work being done to strengthen the spur. At present, work is being started on war footing with JCB on spur number 116.20, which the District Magistrate has directed to complete without delay.

The District Magistrate directed the Circle Officer Simri Bakhtiyarpur/Salkhua, present at the inspection site, to immediately complete pre-flood preparations, physical verification of available boats and execute the already pending payment work as per the standard operating procedure described under disaster management. Additional Collector, Disaster Management, DCLR Simri Bakhtiyarpur, concerned Executive Engineer (Water Resources Department), District Public Relations Officer etc. were present during the inspection.
