Lohardaga, 28 June (HS). Under the guidance of Jhalsa Ranchi and Principal District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman DALSA Arvind Kumar Pandey, a month-long intensive legal awareness camp-cum-drug de-addiction campaign was started from MB DAV Public School today. Addressing the students as the chief guest, DALSA Secretary Rajesh Kumar made it clear that from July 1, the Indian Judicial Code is being implemented in place of the Indian Penal Code, the Indian Civil Defense Code in place of the Criminal Procedure Code and the Indian Evidence Act in place of the Evidence Act.
There is confusion among the people about its effect, but it is important to clarify that all the crimes committed before July 1, 2024 will be tried only under the provisions mentioned in the Indian Penal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure. Whereas the crimes committed on or after July 1 will be subject to the new provisions of the Indian Justice Code and the Indian Civil Defense Code as well as the Indian Evidence Act. Addressing the students present, the DALSA Secretary told the children the objectives of the formation of the District Legal Services Authority and said that under free legal aid, the Legal Services Authority provides legal aid and free lawyers to the poor and helpless persons. Along with this, it also organizes legal awareness camps on various subjects.
