World’s leading tennis player Novak Djokovic has given a big shock before the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year. Djokovic, who played in the Brisbane International to prepare for the Australian Open, was defeated by American player Reilly Opelka.

Opelka, who was six feet 11 inches tall, played brilliantly against Djokovic. 24-time Grand Slam title winner Djokovic could do nothing against Opelka’s excellent serve and returns and lost in straight sets 7-6 (8-6), 6-3. In the first set, Djokovic tried to challenge his opponent but his efforts were not enough to see him win. Djokovic had entered the Brisbane Open expecting an easy win but former world number 17 Opelka, 27, eliminated Djokovic from the competition in just 40 minutes. Opelka was sidelined for nearly two years between 2022 and 2024 due to ankle and wrist surgeries. Opelka, who maintained his dominance throughout the match, hit 16 aces.
