Diwali in Pakistan too, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said – together with India we will eliminate pollution

Lahore CM celebrated Diwali: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif celebrated Diwali at 90-Shahr-e-Quaid-e-Azam on October 30. Celebrating this Diwali, Maryam announced various initiatives to support minorities in the state.

Maryam Nawaz said, I have written a letter to Bhagwant Singh Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab, India, in which joint efforts have been mentioned to deal with air pollution. Together with India, we will solve this pollution problem soon.

Talking about the rights of minorities

The minority community in Pakistan emphasized on protecting the rights of Hindus. He also appealed to see the issue of pollution in Lahore as a human concern instead of doing politics. So that this problem can be solved soon. CM Maryam Nawaz announced the issuance of special cards for minority communities and setting up of minority virtual police stations. He also told about the schemes of the state government to improve development in minority areas.

Celebrated traditional Diwali

Lighted traditional Diwali lamps and also participated in virtual fireworks. Punjab Chief Minister interacted with Hindu women and distributed checks of Rs 15,000 each to 1,400 Hindu families. Assuring support to minority communities, he said, “If anyone commits atrocities on minorities, I will stand with the victim.” We are all Pakistanis and Diwali is a symbol of peace, harmony and love. Maryam Nawaz Sharif was elected as the Chief Minister of Punjab earlier this year. She took office in February 2024 and created history by becoming the first woman Chief Minister of a province in Pakistan.
