Varanasi, March 01 (HS). Platelets Apheresis Machine (SDP) has been installed in Shri Shivprasad Gupta Divisional District Hospital located in Kabirchaura. On Friday, former state minister and MLA of Varanasi City South, Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari inaugurated the machine for the patients. MLA Dr Neelkanth Tiwari and MLC Ashok Dhawan had sanctioned funds from their respective funds for the SDP machine in the Divisional Hospital.
On this occasion, MLA Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari said that platelets were still being extracted from the blood using old technology (component separation) in the blood bank located at Kabirchaura Hospital. In which, along with wasting hours, many more donors were required. Now, with the installation of Platelets Apheresis Machine (SDP) here, all these problems will be solved and the lives of many serious patients will be saved.
According to doctors, the use of this machine will result in faster recovery of patients and one blood donor will be used equivalent to about five donors. Now through Single Donor Platelets (SDP) method, it will be possible to extract platelets from a single donor as per the need of the patient. Earlier, blood from three to four donors was taken for this. Then the platelets were separated. In this process, platelets are released from the blood within an hour. Blood is taken out from the donor's body and taken to a machine, from there the platelets are separated and reach the patient's body and the remaining blood is again transported to the donor's body.
The special thing is that the person donating platelets can give platelets again after 72 hours. By transfusing platelets with this method, platelets increase by 50 to 60 thousand in the patient. Till now, after drawing blood, platelets were extracted through Random Donor Platelets (RDP) method. This takes at least six hours. After donating blood once, blood could be donated again after three months. Transfusion of one unit RDP increases the platelet count by only five thousand. Because of this many units of platelets had to be transfused. Before this, through RDP technique, the needy patient is given platelets of his matching group from the blood bank and in return blood is donated from a donor of any blood group. Platelets from several donors in a group were taken out together and kept for other patients. It is used not only in dengue patients but also in many other serious diseases.
Chief Medical Officer Sandeep Chaudhary, SIC Kabirchaura Hospital SP Singh, Vice President Atma Visheshwar, Board President Gopalji Gupta, Councilor Sanjay Keshari, Shravan Gupta, Councilor Indresh Singh, Sanjay Vishwawari etc. were also present in the program.
