Moradabad, 10 September (HS). Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh is upset over the incident of gherao of the team led by the Additional Commissioner who had reached Swar in Rampur to investigate the complaint of illegal mining. He has instructed Rampur DM Joginder Singh to take action by seeking answers from ADM (Finance and Revenue), Mining Officer, SDM Swar and Swar Police Station in-charge. If the District Magistrate of Rampur does not take action, the Commissioner will send a letter to the government.

On the directions of Moradabad Divisional Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh, a team was sent to Rampur last Saturday night under the leadership of Divisional Additional Commissioner Sarvesh Gupta and Superintendent of Police Nagar Kumar Ranvijay Singh. Also, the officers of Moradabad and Rampur were instructed to check the vehicles related to mining from 9 pm. The team that arrived from Moradabad stopped the vehicles laden with sand for checking in Swar area. During this, people related to mining surrounded the team of officers. It is alleged that the station in-charge of Swar did not pick up the phone when called. The SDM also reached the spot after two hours.

The mining officer took the papers and let the sand trucks go. It is alleged that the attitude of the Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) was also not cooperative towards the team. The team had also inspected four stone crushers, one of which was found closed. Employees of other crushers were issuing slips without writing the address. On receiving information about this matter, the Commissioner has directed the DM to summon the reply of the four officers and take action. Even after 72 hours, the District Magistrate of Rampur did not take any action.
