Divisional Commissioner also took stock of other polling stations, inquired about minimum facilities

Palamu, October 18 (HS). In view of the Assembly elections 2024, for the second day on Friday, Divisional Commissioner Bal Kishun Munda visited various polling stations of 80-Garhwa and 81-Bhavnathpur assembly constituencies of Garhwa district. During the visit, the Commissioner assessed and evaluated the minimum facilities required to be provided to the disabled and senior voters at the polling stations to make the electoral process easier for them. He assessed the registration for disabled and senior voters, transportation facilities on polling day, availability of ramps, wheel chairs and chairs at polling stations. Also took information regarding taking help from volunteers.

He informed the BLOs working at the polling stations and the officials present about the updated status of the work being done under the guidelines issued by the Election Commission. He directed to keep adequate lighting arrangements and fans in proper and working condition in the polling booths of polling stations on the day of voting. The Commissioner also observed separate toilet arrangements for men and women at the polling stations and directed to make arrangements for running water there and put up signage on the routes leading to the toilets. Apart from this, instructions were also given to repair the ramps of some polling stations.

He also directed to provide necessary minimum facilities like medical kit, mobile charging point etc. at the polling stations. He also got information from BLO about the number of disabled and senior voters at the polling stations. Also, for those voters who are unable to reach the polling booth, instructions were given to fill Form 12D, so that home voting can be done for the voters who are unable to reach the polling booth.

While giving instructions to immediately remove the minor deficiencies in the minimum facilities available at the polling stations, the Commissioner said that having the necessary minimum facilities will increase the enthusiasm and inclination towards voting among the voters. He also directed to make the voters aware about the minimum facilities being provided at the polling stations by the Election Commission.

Commissioner 80- RK CM Excellence School, Garhwa, Government Girls Middle School Main Road, Garhwa and Rama Sahu CM School of Excellence, Garhwa and 81- PM Shri Government Middle School Silidag, Upgraded Middle School, Bhavanathpur Assembly constituency. Ramna, visited various polling stations located in the polling hall of Government Plus Two High School, Ramna.

During the Commissioner's visit, Garhwa Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Jamuar, Commissioner's Secretary Bijay Verma, Deputy Election Officer Sushil Kumar Rai, District Supply Officer Ram Gopal Pandey, Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of the concerned assembly constituency, APRO of the Divisional Public Relations Office Bijay Kumar Thakur and concerned BLOs and BLO supervisors were present at the polling stations.
