Jammu, August 30 (HS). A meeting of the District Level Narco Coordination Committee was held at the DC Office Complex under the Chairmanship of District Magistrate Reasi Vishesh Mahajan. During the meeting, the District Magistrate emphasized on adopting a “Prevention First, Then Elimination” approach. The meeting focused on assessing the ongoing initiatives and enhancing collaborative efforts to tackle the menace of drug abuse. Each department presented an overview of the action taken under the decisions of the NCORD meeting at Reasi.
The District Magistrate also directed the departments to ensure safety of women staff working in rehabilitation and de-addiction centres. Recognizing the important role of education in prevention, he directed the institutions to organize public awareness programmes in schools and colleges. He highlighted the important role of forming youth clubs at panchayat level. SSP Reasi Gaurav Sikarwar, ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, ADC Kulbhushan Khajuria, PO (ICDS) Mohammad Anwar Bande, Additional SP Iftekhar Ahmad, ACD Pradeep Kumar, DSWOs, Principals, CEOs, District Information Officers, Tehsildars and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
