District in-charge should send pilgrims to the Dhams only according to their capacity: ADGP

Dehradun, 13 May (HS). Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Crime and Law and Order Uttarakhand AP Anshuman held a meeting with the district in-charges and examined the preparations for smooth traffic in view of the huge crowd of pilgrims coming for the Chardham Yatra.

Additional Director General of Police, through video conference at Police Headquarters, Director Traffic, Inspector General of Police Garhwal Zone, Deputy Inspector General of Police Crime and Law and Order/Nodal Officer, Chardham Traffic Uttarakhand, Senior/Superintendent of Police Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag. , Review after meeting with Chamoli. Additional Director General of Police gave necessary instructions for better coordination with the border districts for smooth traffic management during the Chardham Yatra.

He asked the Superintendent of Police Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Uttarkashi to make arrangements as per the security scheme made for the protection of the Dhams. Pilgrims should be sent to the Dhams only as per the prescribed capacity. Arrangements should be made to stop the remaining passengers at designated places. Especially from the barriers installed in Uttarkashi district, send the pilgrims towards the Dhams as per their capacity. Deputy Superintendent of Police should be appointed to ease the arrangements from the barrier built for Yamunotri Dham to the bottleneck. There should be adequate arrangements for food and drinks and essential commodities at the places where passengers are stopped. The current status of the Dhams and necessary information should be given to the pilgrims from time to time through PA system.

Prescribed parking in the districts should be used. Vehicles should be parked in the parking lot only. No kind of fair or other events should be allowed on the Chardham Yatra route. District in-charge and circle officer should monitor the Chardham Yatra arrangements by briefing the police force appointed on duty from time to time. In landslide prone areas, coordinate with the concerned department and ensure arrangements for JCB etc. and also talk to the police in-charges of the border districts and send the passengers on the yatra route. All district in-charges will keep complete information about the passengers available at Dhams, Yatra routes etc. in their respective districts, so that in case more passengers gather at one place than the capacity, they can be stopped in the border districts only.

Keep regularly monitoring the traffic system on the travel route. If there is any need for change in duties, police force should be immediately appointed accordingly. District in-charge Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag should continuously keep the Inspector General of Police Garhwal region and other senior officials informed about the Dhams and the Yatra route. Regular police force should be appointed at identified bottleneck and accident prone areas on travel routes. All the district in-charges of Garhwal region should themselves review the new challenges coming during the Chardham Yatra and resolve them. Send pilgrims to the Dhams from Haridwar, Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri districts only as per the prescribed capacity. Make arrangements to stop the remaining passengers at different places in the districts.

For traffic management, using drone cameras, its feed should be connected to the district control room and after analyzing the feed in time, the personnel on traffic duty should be briefed. Extra vigilance should be taken in accident prone areas and places with traffic pressure. Immediate action should be taken on even the smallest incidents that occur during the Chardham Yatra. Traffic diversion should be publicized in time.
