Saharsa, July 13 (HS). As per the pre-scheduled program, the two-day district athletic meet was inaugurated under the aegis of the District Athletics Association at the stadium. Bangaon Nagar Panchayat Vice President Rupesh Kamat introduced himself to the players. In his address, he said that I have been from a sports background and whenever I am called on such an occasion, I feel very happy. I also used to play in this ground till just two-three years ago. I used to make the children play. There is a lack of time but whenever the sports association remembers me, I will be present in the ground as a player.
District Secretary Roshan Singh Dhoni said that all the players selected from this competition will get a chance to participate in the state level competition to be held in Patna from 19th to 21st and the players performing well in the state level competition will be included in the upcoming national competition. In today's competition around 170 players from the district's Navhatta, Simri Bakhtiyarpur Kahra, Nagar Nigam, Sattar Kataiya, Saur Bazar, Sonbarsa participated, in which 100 boys and 70 girls participated peacefully.
Players of Under 14, Under 16, Under 18, Under 20 and Open age groups displayed their skills in their respective sports. Due to extreme heat and players coming from far away places, today's game was ended before time. Therefore, the finals for all these players have been scheduled for tomorrow morning. District Athletic Association's Joint Secretary Anshu Mishra, District Eklavya Center's Athletics Coach Rohit Raj, Physical Education Teacher Dharmendra Narayan Singh “Sergeant” Rajkishore Murmu, Anuj Kumar Jayant, Murali Yadav, Shivam Kumar, Suman Kumar etc. played an important role in making this game successful.
