The clash between ruling party and opposition MPs in the Parliament complex on Thursday has further increased the political tension. After this incident, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress have filed police complaints against each other. Delhi Police is now preparing to hand over the investigation of these complaints to the Crime Branch.
Clash broke out after Home Minister’s statement
The incident started with the statement given by Home Minister Amit Shah in Rajya Sabha on Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. After this statement, there was a heated argument between the ruling party and opposition MPs in the Parliament complex, which later turned into a clash. There is news of two BJP MPs being seriously injured in this clash.
BJP made serious allegations against Rahul Gandhi
After the clash, BJP has filed a police complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. BJP MP Anurag Thakur alleged that Rahul Gandhi instigated the attack on NDA MPs and attempted murder. Anurag Thakur told the media:
“We have filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi for assault, incitement and attempt to murder. The incident took place outside the Makar Gate of Parliament, where NDA MPs were protesting peacefully. We have given complete details of the incident in our complaint.”
Based on BJP’s complaint, Delhi Police has registered an FIR at Sansad Marg police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including:
- Section 117: Attempt to cause grievous hurt.
- Section 125: Endangering life or personal safety.
- Section 131: Use of criminal force.
- Section 351: Criminal intimidation.
Congress accused BJP of insult and conspiracy
Congress also hit back at BJP, alleging that party president Mallikarjun Kharge was misbehaved in the Parliament complex. Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said:
“It is a conspiracy. Yesterday the Dalit leader was insulted and today he was pushed. This is against democracy.”
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also targeted BJP regarding this incident. He said that BJP’s complaints are based on lies and their aim is to suppress the voice of the opposition.
Jairam Ramesh’s allegation: FIR is against Dr. Ambedkar
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh raised questions about the intentions of BJP and Delhi Police regarding this incident. He said:
“This FIR is not against Rahul Gandhi, it is against Dr. Ambedkar. All this has been done to divert attention and divert from the issue. Delhi Police will do whatever the Home Minister tells them.”
