Kanpur, 27 September (Hindus). Emphasis on discipline to make life more successful and happy. Uttar Pradesh Governor and HBTU Chancellor Anandiben Patel said this while addressing the sixth convocation ceremony of Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur on Friday.
He also informed about the launch of three Param Rudra supercomputers inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, located in Pune, Delhi and Kolkata. These supercomputers will be used for developing technological upgrades used for empowerment of people. He also explained about multidisciplinary research and informed about the government scheme to provide internship facility to the students by very good corporate houses. On successful completion of the training, students will be employed by these companies.
On this occasion, the chief guest was Padmashree Prof. It was Manindra Agarwal. The theme of the sixth convocation was “Environment Protection” and the ceremony started with the planting of a tree by the Chancellor. Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Samsher welcomed all the guests and informed the gathering about the progress of the university.
During the convocation, degrees were awarded to 899 students of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral (B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, M.Sc. and PhD) courses. During the convocation, 48 medals were awarded to meritorious students, of which 04 were Chancellor's Medal and 44 were Vice-Chancellor's Medal.
Chancellor's Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals were awarded to Saumya Khandelwal of B.Tech Paint Technology, Shivanshu Kushwaha of B.Tech Chemical Engineering, Muskaan Singh of B.Tech Plastic Technology and Amartya Yadav of B.Tech Information Technology. The Vice Chancellor's medal tally included 15 gold, 14 silver and 15 bronze.
On this occasion, the Chancellor inaugurated the newly constructed buildings of the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Electronics Engineering in the Eastern Campus of the University as well as the newly constructed Scholar Road in the Western Campus.
To strengthen basic education, the Chancellor distributed kits containing various useful items for the children of Anganwadi to the Anganwadi workers. Apart from this, motivational books were also distributed to 30 students of five different primary schools of five different villages adopted by the University (Barhat Bangar, Barhat Cachar, Tikkanpurwa, Tatiaganj and Maharajpur, Kanpur).
Various types of competitive activities related to sports, essay writing, arts and crafts etc. have been organized in the primary schools of these adopted villages and the winners were also awarded by the Chancellor in the convocation ceremony.
Chief guest Padmashree Prof. Manindra Agarwal congratulated all the degree recipients and emphasized on the use of modern tools to develop themselves as successful professionals and actively contribute to the growth of the Indian economy. On this occasion, the best researchers of the University and 06 faculty members of the University selected as Top 2 Scientists by Stanford University were also honored with certificates.
