To provide more convenience to disabled people in bus travel, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has started the facility of issuing free tickets in the updated version of ETIM machine. In this system which started from Wednesday, the conductors will be able to issue zero value tickets directly by scanning the QR code written on the identity card of the disabled person with the ETIM machine. This will make the process of issuing tickets easier and more transparent. With this, the Yogi government added another facility for the empowerment of the disabled.
According to UPSRTC, under the new system, the operator will first have to choose the boarding and alighting point of the journey. After this, the QR code present on the identity card of the disabled person will have to be scanned by clicking on the ‘Disabled’ option given in the ETIM machine. As soon as the QR code is scanned, the information of the concerned disabled person will be displayed on the screen of the machine. This will include information like UID number, name, date of birth, type of disability, disability percentage and Aadhaar number.
Number of tickets according to disability percentage
The ETIM machine itself will determine the number of tickets based on the disability percentage. If the disability is less than 80 percent, one free ticket will be issued, while if the disability is 80 percent or more, two free tickets will be issued. With this, zero price ticket will be issued to the co-passenger along with the disabled person as per rules.
Operator’s incentive amount will also increase
The special thing is that the free tickets for disabled people issued through ETIM will now also be included in the load factor of the operator. This will also increase the operator’s incentive amount. The details of the ticket will also be displayed in the reports of the corporation. Facility of separate report for Divyangjan tickets has also been provided in the AFC system. With this, the record of free travel will be recorded digitally. Apart from this, if the QR code on the identity card of a disabled person cannot be scanned, then the operator will be able to make the disabled person travel as per the earlier arrangement. In this way, the existing facility has also been continued with the new digital system.
First ticket issued from Alambagh depot
The first zero ticket was issued on Wednesday under the free travel for disabled people from Alambagh bus depot to Gauri Bazaar. This facility has been implemented in non-AC ordinary bus service.
