Moradabad, 15 November (Hindustan Reporter). The festival of Ganga Snan (Kartik Purnima) was completed with much fanfare in Brass City on Friday. Thousands of devotees took a dip of faith in Ramganga river at different places but avoided taking bath due to the filth in Gagan river located on Delhi Road and RTO Road and fulfilled the festival by offering Prasad.
On Friday, on the occasion of Kartik Purnima in Moradabad, a crowd gathered at the ghats of Ramganga and Gagan rivers since early morning. Devotees took a dip of faith in the Ramganga river passing near Chattha bridge on Mohalla Lalbagh, Katghar, Atal Ghat, Ramganga Vihar Colony, Kanth Road. After bathing, one earns virtuous benefits by donating khichdi, dal, rice, jaggery, jalebi, fruits etc. Mundan rituals were also performed in large numbers at the ghat. On the banks of Ganga, people recited the story of Lord Satyanarayan and performed aarti and took prasad. While children enjoyed swings and chaat pakodas in the fair held near the ghats, the elders made a lot of purchases at the shops decorated in the fair.
A large number of devotees also reached Gagan river situated on Delhi Road and RTO Road, but due to the dirt spread there, they avoided taking bath and fulfilled the festival by offering Prasad. Amit Chauhan, who came to take bath in the river, said that this time Gagan did not feel like taking bath due to the dirt and garbage in the river. There is always filth in the Gagan river, dirty and poisonous water from the drains falls directly into the Gagan and no one pays attention to it. Every year on Ganga Snan, Ganga Dussehra, Somvati Amavasya etc. devotees are deprived of taking a dip of faith in the sky.
