Dinesh Karthik becomes RCB's batting coach and mentor, franchise announced

Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has been appointed as the batting coach and mentor of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). RCB has given this information in a social media post. Karthik officially announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well as all formats of cricket on June 1 this year.

RCB wrote in their post, “Welcome back to our keeper Dinesh Karthik in every way, back to RCB in a new avatar. Dinesh Karthik will be the batting coach and mentor of the RCB men's team. You can take this cricket man out of cricket, but not cricket out of the man. Give him lots of love, 12th Man Army.”

Dinesh Karthik has won 2 ICC trophies with India. This includes the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy. Karthik has played 26 Tests, 94 ODIs and 60 T20 International matches for India. Karthik has won the ICC Trophy for India as well as the Asia Cup in 2010 and 2018. Karthik played his last international match for India in the T20 World Cup against Bangladesh in 2022.

Let us tell you that Karthik is one of the few players who have played all the IPL seasons so far. He played 257 matches in this league and scored 4,842 runs at an average of 26.32. Apart from RCB, Karthik has also played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, Gujarat Lions and Kings XI Punjab. He won the IPL trophy in 2013 while being with Mumbai Indians.
