TRAI blocked 1.77 crore SIM cards: The Department of Telecommunications has taken strict steps to stop fake calls. Recently TRAI has blocked 1.77 crore SIM cards. This step has been taken based on information that these SIM cards are being used for fraud. Keeping in mind the security of more than 122 crore telephone consumers of the country, the Department of Telecommunications and TRAI have cracked down on fake and spam calls.
1.35 crore fake calls curbed every day
According to the Department of Telecommunications, around 1.35 crore fraudulent calls are detected every day before they reach the customer. 1.77 crore SIM cards of these fake callers have been blocked. The department is taking immediate action on the basis of complaints. 7 crore fraud calls have been canceled in the last five days.
Stolen phone numbers are also switched off
The Department of Telecommunications has also taken efforts to block stolen mobile numbers. Under which 14 to 15 lakh stolen mobile numbers have been blocked. So that it is not misused. Apart from this, new rules have also been made. In which calls from marketing and advertising companies have been whitelisted. So that customers can be protected from repeated and random fake calls.
