Chandigarh: The renewed tension between Canada and India is sure to impact Punjab. As India has summoned its diplomats and ordered Canadian diplomats to leave India by October 19, it seems that the atmosphere created between the two countries after the killing of separatist Hardeep Singh Nijhar is not coming back. This can be seen as the next stage of distance in the relationship.

But this bitter atmosphere between India and Canada will affect the students studying there who are already troubled by the changes in the rules made by the Canadian government. The protests taking place there are becoming newspaper headlines every day. Actually, most of the students from Punjab go to Canada for studies. According to a figure, every year 1.5 lakh students from Punjab go to other countries for studies, out of which the highest number of students from Punjab go to Canada. Whereas earlier students used to go for higher education after graduation, now in the last few years, the inclination of students after Plus Two has increased towards Canada. Education is just an excuse. Their real objective is to go and settle there.

Recently, Canada banned students from working before they graduate, making it difficult for students to meet their educational expenses. A large number of people are also returning. It is becoming impossible to afford the heavy rent, food etc. expenses for living there. Prabhjeet Kaur, who works in a big company in Canada, said that the condition of the girl students living in her basement is not good. They can't go to work and parents can't afford that much.

But now the difficulty will increase. Visa centers that send students to study abroad feel that the current situation is only temporary. Everything will be fine after the elections in Canada.

He believes that despite this there is no dearth of people going there. Alamjot Singh of Global Guru said that we are concerned about the changes made in the rules by the Canadian government. It is too early to say what effect the divisions between governments will have.
