Guwahati, 14 October (HIST). Dibrugarh and New Bongaigaon Rolling Stock Factories under North Eastern Frontier Railway (NFR) have shown significant progress in service improvement and operational efficiency during the month of September. This achievement underlines PUSIRE's commitment to provide advanced train coaches and goods wagons, enabling outstanding operations in the transportation system.

Notable achievements of the Dibrugarh factory include modification of 13 coaches with R3 air hose pipe, taking the total to 59 coaches so far during the current financial year, PUSIRE CPRO Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said on Monday. The factory has also produced a set of piping arrangements for air suspension and FIBA modifications for 15 coaches, taking the total to 58 so far in the financial year. Modifications have also been made to the air brake pipes and fittings along with upgraded flexible hoses in 21 coaches. Thus, till now in the current financial year there have been a total of 85 coaches. Additionally, fire detection systems have been installed in four LHB AC coaches, taking the total to 37 so far this financial year. A record 255 observers participated in the Vigilance Awareness Programme. A Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) exhibition organized during this period highlighted models made from scrap materials. Under the “Swachhta Hi Seva” campaign, awareness was also spread about promoting cleanliness and plastic pollution.

In case of coaching works, the Railway Board's target was exceeded by out-turning 58 coaches (including LHB and ICF) at Dibrugarh Factory and supplying 31 ICF and 35 LHB coach sets. 540 wheel sets were overhauled in the wheel shop, leading to increased maintenance operations. In fact, a total of 14 NMGHS coaches have been turned out so far during this financial year, which includes conversion of one ICF coach to NMGHS coach.

The New Bongaigaon plant also demonstrated excellent work, including the successful turn out of a refrigeration van for the first time and a 1600 HP DEMU rake in a new blue color scheme, which will significantly reduce periodic maintenance. The factory designed and developed an in-house test bench for pressurized flushing systems to address passenger complaints. A total of 60 coaches were turned out after periodic overhaul (POH) and 144 wagons were equipped with twin-pipe air brake system. Wheel Shop supplied 117 wheel sets to the divisions and additional sets are ready for dispatch. New Bongaigaon Workshop also ensured 100 per cent implementation of Railway Board amendments in all coaches and wagons and contributed to scrap disposal by collecting approximately 380 MT of ferrous and 66 MT of non-ferrous scrap including five defunct wagons. As safety is a paramount objective for train operations, both the factories on behalf of PSU are committed to partner in service excellence, safety and sustainable rail operations. The zone has taken several initiatives including regular maintenance of coaches and wagons for safe train operations and providing smooth ride experience to the passengers.
