Hamirpur, July 26 (HS). The brave soldiers of the Indian Army have won many wars, but political leaders lost them at the table. The Kargil war was a war in which our army tasted victory and our leaders also won the war. That is why Vijay Diwas is celebrated to remember this victory. Senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Professor Prem Kumar Dhumal said this while addressing the people present at the Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations on Thursday.
On this occasion, the former Chief Minister offered floral tribute to the pictures of the martyrs and paid homage to them.
Dhumal said that our brave soldiers proved the mettle of Indian service in the First World War, Second World War and Third World War. In 1948, we won the war, but the matter went to the United Nations and what the army had won was lost by our leaders. In the 1962 war, the leader cried and said that the North East is slipping out of the hands of our country. After winning the 1965 war, we also won the Haji Pir pass which was very important, but we lost it at the Tashkent table. After winning the war in 1971, we lost it at the Shimla table and left behind 93000 soldiers. We won so many wars, but never celebrated Vijay Diwas. But since we won the Kargil war, we started celebrating Vijay Diwas because this war was won by our army as well as our leaders.
The former Chief Minister also said that the Indian Army has always displayed its unparalleled courage and dedication. Our soldiers have performed their duties even in the most difficult situations. He said that the stories of courage and dedication of the Indian Army inspire us and further strengthen the spirit of patriotism within us.
He further said that the victory in the Kargil war was not only the victory of the soldiers but of the entire nation. This victory taught us that by being united we can face any challenge. On this Vijay Diwas, we should always remember the contribution of our soldiers while saluting their bravery.
