After being out for 46 runs in the first innings, the Indian team made a brilliant comeback in the second innings. New Zealand scored 402 runs in the first innings. And achieved a huge lead of 356 runs. India performed brilliantly in the second innings of the third day. This continued even on the fourth day of the match. India's score till lunch was 344/3. Then the Indian team was only 12 runs behind.

Rishabh Pant has become the fastest Indian wicketkeeper to score 2500 runs in Test cricket. He achieved this feat in just 62 innings. Earlier this record was in the name of former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He made this record in 69 innings. Whereas Farooq Engineer had achieved this feat in 82 innings. Pant could not keep wickets on the third day due to knee injury. He rested for a day. And batted brilliantly on the fourth day.

The engineer did this 18 times in 87 innings. Dhoni is in first place in this matter. He scored 50 or more runs 39 times in 144 innings in Tests.
