Haridwar, September 12 (HS). On Thursday, in protest against the closure of the line box facility, the guards and loco pilots associated with the Haridwar branch of the All India Guards Council staged a sit-in protest at the railway station and demanded continuation of the line box facility. A large number of guards and loco pilots participated in the protest.
During this, Haridwar branch secretary of All India Guards Council, Bhupendra Verma said that the Railway Board has decided to stop the line box facility, which the council strongly opposes. The important documents of the guards and loco pilots are kept safe in the line box. Instead of the line box, they are being given trolley bags which are heavy.
Pankaj Pandey, Chief Advisor of All India Guards Council Haridwar Branch, said that with the closure of line box, the post of porters will be abolished. Important documents of the railways are kept safe in the line box, whereas anyone can break into the trolley bag. He demanded from the Railway Ministry and Railway Administration that the old facility of line box should be continued uninterrupted. He also warned of a phased agitation if the demand is not met.
