The men's club throw event was India's breakout event at the Paris Paralympics 2024. Dharambir and Pranav Surma performed brilliantly and won two medals for India in the same event. In the final match, Dharambir fouled the first four throws. Then with the fifth throw, he achieved a distance of 34.92 and this was his best throw. Due to which he changed his name to Sunhari. After this, in the sixth throw, Dharambir covered a distance of 31.59 meters. Thus, despite fouling the first four throws, Dharambir won the gold medal.
Pranab Surma performed his best in his first throw itself. His first throw was 34.59, which gave him the silver medal. Then in the second throw he scored 34.19 and the third throw was a foul. After this he achieved a distance of 34.50 in the fourth throw, 33.90 in the fifth throw and 33.70 in the sixth throw.
Let us tell you that Amit Kumar, the third Indian participating in this event, could not win a medal. He could only make a best throw of 23.96. With this throw, Amit Kumar finished 10th in the event. Along with this, Jelko Dimitrijevic of Serbia won the bronze medal in this event with a throw of 34.18.
It is worth noting that on the 7th day, India won a total of 4 medals. This made the total number of medals 24. The 4 medals won on the seventh day include 2 gold and 2 silver medals. In archery, gold medals were won in men's recurve and men's club throw F51. Silver medals were won in men's club throw F51 and men's shot put F46.
