Dhamtari: No promotion to Patwaris, they will retire on the same post

Dhamtari, 2 March (Hindustan Reporter). The Patwaris posted across the district have demanded to fill 50 percent of the posts of Revenue Inspectors through promotion of Patwaris, so that they can get the benefit of promotion. For years, Patwaris have been serving in other revenue works including correcting revenue records, but till now the Patwaris of the district are not getting the benefit of promotion. Whereas officers and employees of other departments get the benefit of promotion. There is a lot of anger among the Patwaris only because they are not getting the benefit of promotion. The members of the delegation of Patwari Sangh have expressed their problems and demanded the government and administration to fulfill their demands soon.

District in-charge minister Tankaram Verma was to come to PWD Rest House Dhamtari located on Ratnabandha Road on March 2. A delegation of Patwari Sangh had come to meet him, but they could not meet him as the minister's program was postponed. On this, in the letter written by the Patwaris of Dhamtari Tehsil to the minister demanding promotion, the Patwaris have demanded the government and administration not to discriminate against them. Patwari Vasudev Bhoi, Prakash Sahu, Praveen Tikariha, Chhabilal Dhritalhare said that Patwaris were given promotion in the year 1995. Then after this the examination was held in the year 2016, 2017, 2018. Not a single Patwari has got promotion in the last five years. Promotion has been made a competitive examination.

Patwari Deepak Netam, Mukesh Dhruv, Vedprakash Sahu, Deepmala Patwa, Pooja Tiwari, Hirendra Sinha said that the Revenue and Disaster Management Department has not followed the principle of natural justice in giving promotion to Patwaris. The criteria of seniority is adopted for promotion and recognition in all departments, but this is not the case with Patwaris, why are they being discriminated against. He said that Patwaris with 10 to 30 years of service are identified on the basis of seniority, but there is no rule for the promotion of Patwaris. Is Patwari not a part of democracy? Patwari Yogesh Jagtap, Meena Dewangan, Babita Sahu, Inderjit Sinha, Yogendra Sahu, Mukewari Sahu, Meena Dewangan say that earlier Patwaris used to get promotion to the post of Revenue Inspector in the order of seniority, but now Patwaris are getting promotion to the post of Revenue Inspector in contrast to seniority. The Revenue Department has changed the rules for making inspectors. In such a situation, Patwari will be forced to retire from the post of Patwari while working.
