Dhamtari, 16 March (Hindustan Reporter). Chhattisgarh Midday Meal Mazdoor Ekta Union demonstrated at Gandhi Maidan on Saturday, March 16 with 10-point demands including increase in the honorarium of cook assistants. The members raised slogans against the central and state governments.
Sameer Qureshi, patron of the Mid Day Meal Mazdoor Ekta Union, said that there is a continuous demand for increase in the honorarium of the cook assistants, but the demand of the union is being ignored. Members of Chhattisgarh Midday Meal Mazdoor Ekta Union CITU said that as per the decision of the High Court, wages should be paid at the rate of Rs 306.67 per day but this is not happening.
There was talk of an increase of Rs 300 in the mid-day meal for laborers as announced in the budget by the then government in March 2003, hence the wages should be increased. An order should be issued to increase the honorarium of kitchen or maids by 50 percent to Rs 3450. Similarly there are 10 demands. Finally a memorandum was submitted to the administrative officer in the name of the Chief Minister.
