Actress Anjali Anand, who became famous in every household with the memorable character of Ranveer Singh’s younger sister Gayatri i.e. ‘Golu Randhawa’ in Karan Johar’s superhit film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, has made a big and shocking revelation about the thinking of Bollywood and the entertainment industry. Anjali Anand has clearly said that in the industry, she is often cast in films and shows not because of her talent or acting ability, but because of her special body type (plus size body). Expressing regret, she said that it takes a long time for filmmakers to understand that apart from having a beautiful body, she is also a great actress.

Recently released multi-starrer comedy film ‘Dhamal 4’ Anjali Anand, who is spreading her acting skills, has revealed the bitter truth of her career in a special interview given to news agency PTI.

‘My body was seen first, talent was seen later’

Sharing her initial struggle and experience of being typecast, Anjali Anand told PTI, “It is a bitter truth that whatever initial opportunities I got in the industry, the makers first looked only at my body type and cast me on that basis. Only when I started working on the sets, they realized that I could do a lot more in acting. After seeing my talent, the makers offered me other better roles.”

He further said, “‘Untag’ was my first web series in the digital space and I got that role only because of my heavy body. However, after that work, the perspective of the makers changed a bit and later I got opportunities to play very brilliant and powerful characters in shows like ‘Raat Jawan Hai’ and ‘Dabba Cartel’.”

Jokes were made on ‘Rocky and Rani’s love story’ and weight.

Anjali Anand started her acting career with the web series ‘Untag’ before playing the lead role in the world’s famous TV show ‘Dhai Kilo Prem’. In the early stages of her career, she constantly received offers for roles that focused solely on her increasing weight and plus-size body. Often his characters in films and serials were used only to add comedy to the screen and make the audience laugh.

According to Anjali, to some extent, her most popular and superhit character in Karan Johar’s grand film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ also falls in this category, where the story was woven about her weight. Anjali candidly admitted that she has not yet received any film script in Bollywood in which her character has nothing to do with her body or weight. However, he is very positive and hopes that this thinking of cinema will definitely change in the future.

Initially said ‘no’ to ‘Dhamaal 4’, solid pairing with Riteish Deshmukh

Anjali Anand is now seen in a very interesting role in famous director Indra Kumar’s superhit franchise film ‘Dhamaal 4’, in which she is working opposite Bollywood star Riteish Deshmukh. Anjali revealed that when she initially got the offer for this film, she did not want to do this film at all due to the fear of jokes and jokes about her weight.

Anjali said, “To be honest, after listening to the script of the film, my first reaction was a straight ‘no’. I had to think deeply about how I could make this character better and dignified without any stereotypes. When I accepted this role, some fans and people got angry with me as to why I decided to be a part of such a film, because in real life I have always been against body-shaming people. I have been raising my voice openly. But I thought that if anyone is going to take this responsibility to change this thinking of the society, then it will be me and will not give this opportunity to anyone else.”
