DGP gave several instructions to subordinates in the review meeting on women's safety | News India

Ranchi, 27 August (HS). Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Gupta held a review meeting on the safety of women through video conferencing from the Police Headquarters on Tuesday. During this, the DGP reviewed the safety of all the medical colleges, hospitals, nursing colleges, college students and school girls in the state and gave several guidelines.

For the safety of medical colleges, all hospitals, nursing colleges, college girls and school girls under their area, the DGP directed all SPs to provide mobile numbers of police control room, women police station in-charge, nearest police station in-charge to all the women in the institution, make them aware about dial-112, create confidence in women towards police, provide security arrangements 24 hours a day and seven days a week in all institutions and make special security arrangements at their workplace from 7:00 pm to 4:00 am.

The DGP contacted the management of the institute and asked them to install CCTV. He instructed to ensure adequate lighting arrangements especially at places where women are present. He instructed all SPs to hold meetings with the police station in-charges of the respective districts and visit the fairs and markets in the districts to gather information about the problems of the shopkeepers and other women in the market and solve their problems and take action against those who extort money illegally in the market after verifying them.

The DGP directed to check all the drivers of school buses in the state and all the drivers of passenger buses going out of the state with breath analyser. In view of women's safety, he especially directed to inspect the CCTV cameras already installed at all railway stations in the state from the security point of view and check their condition and repair the faulty cameras and install new cameras.

The DGP reviewed the women police stations functioning in all the districts and directed to take further action by reviewing the deputation of women police station in-charge and other women staff in the women police station, adequate space to run the police station, use of women police station in-charge in crimes related to women taking place in other police stations of the district, behavior of police officers and personnel with the victim women in the women police station.

ADG Campaign Sanjay Anand Rao Lathkar, IG Manoj Kaushik and IG Akhilesh Jha along with police officers of all districts were present in the meeting.
