Haridwar, 1 November (HS). In the pilgrimage city of Haridwar on Friday, devotees took a dip of faith in the Ganga on Kartik Krishna Amavasya. Devotees took bath in the Ganga with chants of Har Har Ganga at various ghats of Ganga including Har Ki Paidi. On the occasion of Amavasya, devotees visited the temples, performed charity and prayed for their deities and wished to attain salvation. The police force was deployed diligently in making arrangements.
After twenty days, there was a different excitement today after seeing the uninterrupted flow at other Ganga ghats including Har Ki Paidi. Due to less crowd, no traffic plan of any kind was implemented. Due to Ganga Bandi, water came only after 20 days on the day of Diwali. After the Diwali puja yesterday, this morning due to Amavasya, the devotees took a bath in the Ganga on Amavasya with chants of Har Har Gange, Jai Maa Gange, did charity and prayed for salvation. Saptarishi, Bhupatwala, Khadkhadi in North Haridwar and Laltarau Bridge, Post Office and Upper Road in Central Haridwar saw a bigger crowd than other days. Even in the central Haridwar area, there was special splendor on the Ganga ghats in the evening.
