Development plan will be made for all urban bodies, Deputy Chief Minister Sao gave instructions

Raipur, June 18 (HS). Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Arun Sao reviewed the departmental work in the ministry today on Tuesday.

While reviewing the progress of various departmental schemes, he directed to expedite the works. In view of the upcoming rainy season, he asked to ensure cleaning of drains and sewers in all urban bodies before the rains. He also directed to prepare an action plan for easy public transport to travel from district headquarters to divisional headquarters.

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw reviewed the work being done by SUDA and the department in a meeting with senior officials of the Urban Administration Department and gave necessary instructions. He asked to tighten the work of urban bodies. He instructed to take strict action by fixing responsibility of the officers who are lax and negligent in their work. He said that the results of the department's work should be visible in the field. The seriousness and activeness of the urban bodies should be visible in providing maximum facilities to the citizens. He said in strong words that the sluggishness and slowness in the work due to the model code of conduct implemented for the Lok Sabha general elections should be ended immediately and the work should be expedited. Where the work is stopped or has not started, start the work immediately.

In the review meeting, Shri Saav asked to prepare a city development plan for the systematic and planned development of all urban bodies. He instructed the departmental officers to approve the work of development and public facilities in all the bodies as per the development plan. Shri Saav reviewed the progress of various schemes of affordable housing along with Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in urban areas. He asked to complete the work of these schemes within the time limit with full quality. He also asked to audit the geo-tagging in housing projects.

In the meeting, Mr. Saav reviewed the physical and financial progress of the schemes of the Urban Administration Department. He asked to make a strong system to ensure proper use of the 15th Finance Commission funds being made available to the urban bodies. Mr. Saav gave instructions to organize a workshop to increase the efficiency and competence of the engineers working in urban bodies across the state. He asked to complete the work of delimitation of wards for the general elections in urban bodies by July 18 so that the reservation process and the work of preparing voter list can be started on time.

Mr. Sao today reviewed the Mukhyamantri Slum Swasthya Yojana, Shri Dhanwantri Generic Medical Stores, Amrit Mission, Gaurav Path Nirman and property tax collection. The meeting also discussed the upgradation of Nagar Panchayats into Nagar Palikas and Nagar Palikas into Municipal Corporations. Secretary of Urban Administration and Development Department Dr. Basavaraju S., Director Kundan Kumar, CEO of SUDA Shashank Pandey, Additional Director Pulak Bhattacharya and Joint Director S.K. Sundarani were also present in the review meeting.
