Five small railway stations are being developed in Lucknow city in Uttar Pradesh, which will reduce the pressure of trains and passengers at Charbagh Junction and Lucknow Junction. Additional trains will be operated at these stations, and new facilities will also be included for the passengers. Proposals under this scheme have been sent to the headquarters.
More than 257 trains run daily at Charbagh Junction, carrying approximately one lakh twenty five thousand passengers. Similarly, there is pressure of passengers at Lucknow Junction also. In such a situation, the Railway Administration has made a plan to reduce the load on these two major stations, under which some small stations will be developed as directional stations. These stations include Malhaur, Alamnagar, Manaknagar, Transportnagar and Utretiya.
Trains at these stations will be operated as per direction. Such as trains from Alamnagar to Bareilly and Moradabad routes, trains from Manaknagar to Kanpur and Delhi routes, and trains from Malhaur and Uttaretiya to Varanasi, Prayagraj, Ayodhya and Gorakhpur routes will be run. In this way, trains on the same route will be consolidated at one place.
For the convenience of passengers, facilities like lifts, escalators, water vending machines, and automatic ticket vending machines will be provided at these stations. Apart from this, long distance trains will also have stoppages at these stations, so that passengers do not need to go to Charbagh or Lucknow Junction.
