Devbhoomi Uttarakhand should now also be known as Khel Bhoomi Uttarakhand: Rekha Arya

Haridwar, 20 November (HS). Uttarakhand Sports Minister Rekha Arya presented medals to the winning players at the closing ceremony of the National Grappling Competition in Haridwar. 2500 players from 22 states participated in this competition. In the competition, the team of Haryana stood first, Rajasthan stood second and Uttar Pradesh stood third. Uttarakhand team also performed well and got 13 medals.

State Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that for the first time a competition related to grappling has been organized on such a large scale, which is a big opportunity for the players of the state and for this I give special thanks to the Grappling Committee of India.

He said that earlier people used to feel insecure about the future in the field of sports, but since Prime Minister Modi gave a new identity to the players by giving them respect and the players performing at national and international level are being directly communicated with by Prime Minister Modi. This is giving new encouragement to the players.

Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that grappling has progressed a lot in the last three years since its existence. He said that we wish all the grappling players good luck for future competitions, and hope that it will be included in big events like National Games, Asian Games and Olympics in the near future. Expressing his gratitude to the Grappling Committee of India for organizing the grappling event in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, he said that he got the opportunity to interact with the children from all over India and get acquainted with the game of grappling.

Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that it is our government’s effort that the world should now know Devbhoomi as Khel Bhoomi Uttarakhand. Sports Department will always provide possible help and support for Uttarakhand Grappling.

In this program, along with Sports Minister Rekha Arya, Grappling Committee of India Chairman Dinesh Kapoor, Secretary Birju Sharma, Secretary Uttarakhand Grappling Rajendra Singh Rawat, Vice President Birendra Singh Rathore and officials of Grappling Committee of India were present.
