Despite water crisis, Rs 100 recovered from 22 families in Bengaluru for wasting water. 1 lakh fine

Bengaluru water crisis: Now that Bengaluru is facing severe water crisis, the wastage of water is not stopping. Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board i.e. BWSSB is also now adopting a strict stance on wastage of water. Recently the board issued an order that a fine of Rs 5,000 will be imposed on wasting drinking water for unnecessary purposes. Also, if someone violates it repeatedly, an additional Rs 500 will be charged per day. Following this order, the board took strict action against those wasting drinking water and recovered Rs 500. An amount of more than Rs 1 lakh has been recovered.

Complaints about wastage of water are being received through social media

According to reports, BWSSB has imposed a fine of Rs 1.1 lakh on 22 families found using drinking water for washing cars, watering gardens and other unnecessary purposes. The board has taken the help of patrolling and social media to prevent and monitor wastage of water. There are reports that the board received many complaints about water wastage through social media.

Pool dance and rain dance were also banned

Only last week, the BWSSB had banned the use of Cauvery water as well as borewell water in activities like pool dance and rain dance during Holi celebrations. The ban was announced by the board at a time when pool parties and rain dances were being announced at many places. However, after the order, the hotels removed the issue of rain dance.
