Punjab News: Record cases of stubble burning were recorded in Punjab for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday. With 162 new cases, the total number of stubble burning cases in Punjab has reached 872 so far. In the year 2022, 120 cases of stubble burning were reported on this day and in the year 2023, 154 cases were reported on this day.
Punjab's air is getting polluted due to continuous burning of stubble. Bathinda's air quality index (AQI) reached 211 on Sunday, which was in the poor category, compared to 155 on Friday and 195 on Saturday. According to doctors, most people may face difficulty in breathing if they stay outside in this AQI.
Talking about other cities of Punjab, AQI of Amritsar was 104, Patiala was 106, Ludhiana was 120, Khanna was 82 and Mandi Gobindgarh was 80. In Punjab, 123 cases of stubble burning were reported on 10 October, 143 cases on 11 October and 177 cases on 12 October. In these three days, more cases of stubble burning were registered than in the last two years.
On Sunday, the maximum number of 48 cases were reported from Amritsar district. Along with this, 26 in Patiala district, 38 in Tarn Taran, Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan 16 in Sangrur district, 4 each in Malerkotla, Gurdaspur and Kapurthala, Ferozepur, Mansa, Bathinda, Fazilka, Ludhiana, Moga and S.A. S. 1-1 and 2 cases of stubble burning have been registered in Fatehgarh Sahib city district.
