A very big news full of relief and pride is coming for the electricity consumers and general public of Uttar Pradesh. This year, record breaking extreme heat and heat wave continues in entire North India including Uttar Pradesh, due to which the demand for electricity has reached its historical highest level. Usually, in such scorching heat, reports of heavy power cuts and grid failures in the cities and villages of Uttar Pradesh were common, but Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has created history this time. Despite the scorching heat, there were no announced cuts anywhere in the state and by breaking the record of uninterrupted supply of megawatt electricity, Uttar Pradesh has become the number one state supplying the maximum electricity in the entire country.

All demand records broken in severe heatwave, electricity department showed strength

Due to the mercury crossing 45 degrees in all the small and big districts of the state including Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Agra, Noida and Ghaziabad, ACs, coolers and refrigerators are running continuously in the houses. Due to this, the peak load demand in the state has destroyed all its previous records. According to senior officials of the electricity department, UP Grid has handled the record demand of more than 30 thousand MW this season very successfully and without any power failure, leaving behind the big developed states of the country. Following the strict instructions of the Chief Minister, the engineers and technical staff of UPPCL are working on alert mode round the clock, so that the consumers do not have to remain without electricity even for a minute in this deadly heat.

How did this miracle become possible, know the government’s master plan

A very well-organized and visionary master plan of the government is working behind this turnaround of power supply in Uttar Pradesh. To increase power production, major thermal power plants of the state like Anpara, Obra, and Harduaganj are being run at full capacity. Apart from this, the capacity of transformers was increased in advance to prevent the grid from tripping and worn out wires were replaced. To rectify any fault at the local level, ‘Quick Response Team’ (QRT) has been deployed in every district, which rectifies the fault within a few minutes as soon as the complaint is received. This is the reason why this time, except for local faults, long power cuts are not being seen anywhere.

Electricity is available 24 hours from villages to cities, people are happy.

As per the roster of the state government, currently all the district headquarters, metros and industrial areas of Uttar Pradesh are being provided 24 hours electricity without any interruption. At the same time, rural areas and tehsil headquarters are also getting ample electricity supply for 18 to 22 hours, which has helped the farmers in irrigating their crops and the common villagers in saving themselves from the heat. Due to this excellent availability of electricity, small and big industries of the state have also gained momentum. This historic achievement of Uttar Pradesh is now being appreciated at the national level, and other states are also trying to understand this successful ‘power management model’ of UP.
