Andre Russell will not be retained by Kolkata Knight Riders: In the last IPL 2024 season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the league title. Every player of the West Indies cricket team, including star all-rounder Andre Russell, helped the team win the title. Russell performed brilliantly with both ball and bat. Russell has been a part of Kolkata since 2014. But now a report has revealed that the partnership between Russell and KKR may end in IPL 2025.
According to the information, Russell will not be retained for the upcoming IPL 2025. However, no official announcement has been made regarding this. In IPL 2024, Russell batted in 9 innings and scored 222 runs at an average of 31.71 and an excellent strike rate of 185. In which his best score was 64 runs. Apart from this, he bowled in 14 innings and took 19 wickets at an average of 15.52.
If Russell is not retained despite his excellent performance last season, then it will be a really shocking decision of KKR. Now it will be interesting to see what decision the Kolkata franchise takes on Russell before IPL 2025. If Russell comes in the auction then he can get a good price.
Russell has played a total of 127 IPL matches so far. In which he batted in 105 innings and scored 2484 runs at an average of 29.22 and strike rate of 174.92. During this period he scored 11 half-centuries. In which his highest score was 88 runs. Apart from this, he took 115 wickets in 112 innings. In which the best figure was 5/15.
