Deputy Chief Minister met Union Jal Shakti Minister, requested for financial assistance for Himachal

Shimla, December 9 (HS) Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today met Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil and requested for release of pending funds for timely completion of the ongoing projects under Jal Jeevan Mission in the state.

The Deputy Chief Minister informed the Union Minister that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, Himachal had received approval of Rs 916.53 crore for the financial year 2024-25. However, till now only an amount of Rs 137.48 crore has been released due to which work on many projects is being affected. He demanded early release of the first and second tranches of the first installment under the mission.

Taking the situation of Himachal Pradesh seriously, Union Minister CR Patil assured that the pending funds will be released soon.

The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated the commitment of the state government to provide better irrigation facilities. He urged for approval of 67 winter water supply schemes (including Vibrant Village Scheme) to be constructed at a cost of Rs 517.16 crore so as to ensure regular drinking water supply in tribal areas.

Mukesh Agnihotri expressed his gratitude to the Union Minister for including Finna Singh Project in funding under PMKSY and appealed for release of funds of Rs 135 crore for this project. He also urged for approval of Beet and Kutlehar projects costing Rs 120.79 crore.

Seeking financial assistance for other irrigation projects, the Deputy Chief Minister requested for early release of the balance central assistance of Rs 3.26 crore for SMI Project Labrang (Kinnaur), Garden Colony, LIS Baroti Mandap (Mandi), and LIS Sandhol (Mandi). Did.

Further, he appealed to sanction Rs 5 crore for five sewerage schemes (Chirgaon, Rohru and Saraswati Nagar in Shimla district; Solan and Kandaghat in Solan district; and Dadahu and Rajgarh in Sirmaur district) under the Namami Gange Mission.

Understanding the priority of these projects, the Union Minister assured early approval and allocation of funds.
