After this, investigation has been started regarding this incident. According to Jain, on the night of March 1 at around 19:00, these three policemen entered his shop and the gold bangle theft section started investigation and interrogated them.

At this time Jain himself clarified that he was not involved in any theft incident. But Lakshmi clarified that her daughter Pandi, two women named Chauhan had mortgaged a bangle worth Rs 18,000 to her on February 10. After this incident, Jain clarified that after the incident, Jain was called to the police station for further questioning. Jain alleged that when Jain went to the police station with his father and younger brother, the said trio took him to the detection room and threatened him. A policeman put the belt in his hand and asked his name. During this, the police personnel asked to register a case against him or arrest him. Jain told the police that he was ready to cooperate in the investigation and return the bangle, but demanded that he be given a panchnama and a 'seizure report' to get the item back.

This angered the police and threatened to arrest him under the section of buying stolen votes. After this, Jain alleged that he talked to the female officer and demanded Rs 50,000. Ultimately Jain gave him Rs 25,000 and after this a departmental inquiry was conducted against the Human Rights Commission and the three policemen who complained to the police authorities.
