Anders Antonsen defeated Jonathan Christie to become the first Danish player to win the China Open Masters badminton men’s singles title. European champion Antonsen won his fourth title of the year by defeating his opponent 21-15, 21-13 in 51 minutes.

He has further strengthened his claim in the race to reach the top in the final rankings. Antonsen scored his fourth win in 10 matches against Asian champion Jonathan, playing his first professional tournament since winning gold at the Paris Olympics, defeating local player Gao Fengxiang of China to win the title. The 22-year-old Korean player won the final match without any difficulty 21-12, 21-8 in 38 minutes. It was his 4th title of the season and 27th of his career. In women’s doubles, Olympic silver medalists Liu Shengsu and Tan Ningye defeated Li Yijing and Luo Xiaomin in the all-Chinese final. Both have won the sixth title this year.
