Dengue vaccine will be launched next year: The country's health ministry may launch the dengue vaccine in India by next year. Currently, four companies are conducting trials on the vaccine. The vaccine will be launched in the market as soon as the third phase trial is completed.
It is worth noting that dengue cases will peak in October. Compared to last year, 32091 cases of dengue have been reported this year. Union Health Ministry Secretary Apoorva Chandra said, “We have held a meeting with the states regarding dengue and have prepared guidelines to control the increasing cases.” Dengue cases are more common during the rainy season in August, September, October and November. Dengue cases peak in October and start decreasing later.
Meeting with states for prevention of dengue
Till 2000, the mortality rate from dengue was 3 percent. Which has come down to 1 percent. A meeting was held with all the states regarding dengue. In which guidelines were given to the states. All the states were told the measures to avoid it.
The risk of dengue increased in these states!
Elaborating on this, Apoorva Chandra said that since the onset of monsoon, more cases of dengue are being seen in the southern part of the country, which includes Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Along with this, dengue cases are also being seen in some areas of Maharashtra and Gujarat. Compared to last year, this time dengue cases have increased by 83 percent in Maharashtra in the first seven months of the year. Maharashtra reported 3,164 cases between January and July 2023, while 5,776 cases were reported in the first seven months of this year. So far this year, more than 19,000 cases of dengue have been reported in Karnataka. Dengue cases are also increasing in West Bengal, where at least 2,640 people have died of dengue so far.
