Saharsa, 2 September (HS). Randhir Yadav, Joint Secretary of Bihar State Kisan Sabha, farmer leader Naseem Uddin and youth leader Kulanand Kumar through a memorandum to the District Agriculture Officer Saharsa demanded the Bihar government to declare Saharsa district as drought and scarcity affected area.
Provincial Joint Secretary of Kisan Sabha Randhir Yadav said that the farmers of Saharsa district cultivated Kharif crop along with paddy cultivation with a lot of hard work and financial cost. From sowing paddy seedlings, transplanting till now there has been lack of rain. The government's announcement of providing free electricity to every farm for water is proving to be a story of half-hearted and three leaves of a cover. Despite this, farmers are trying their best to save their crops with the help of expensive diesel and diesel pumps. But the lack of rain during daily bathing of paddy is ruining the crop. As the rainy season is passing and there is a severe lack of rain, the farmers are frustrated and disappointed to see the destruction of their fields and crops.
The agriculture of Saharsa which is dependent on nature has not received even half of the average rainfall, which has dashed the hopes of the farmers. The farmers are struggling like a fish out of water thinking about their future. In such a difficult situation, the financial help and compensation of the government can be the only support for the farmers. Therefore, Bihar State Kisan Sabha District Committee demands from the Bihar Government through Saharsa District Agriculture Officer that Saharsa district be declared drought-affected and scarcity-affected and the farmers be given proper compensation. Otherwise, Kisan Sabha will start agitation.
