Demand to change the name of India Gate, BJP leader writes letter to PM Modi

National President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Minority Morcha, Jamal Siddiqui has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. India Gate by changing the name of ‘Bharat Mata Dwar’ Has demanded to do. Siddiqui, in his letter, has described this step as erasing the symbols of slavery and promoting respect for Indian culture.

What did Siddiqui write in the letter?
Jamal Siddiqui wrote, “Under your leadership, patriotism and respect for Indian culture has increased among the citizens of India. Just as under your rule, priority has been given to Indianness by removing the symbols of the Mughal and British era, similarly the name of India Gate should be changed to ‘Bharat Mata Dwar’.

He reminded that many historic changes have taken place during PM Modi’s tenure:

  • Aurangzeb Road by changing the name of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Road to be done.

Siddiqui wrote, “Renaming India Gate as ‘Bharat Mata Dwar’ will be a true tribute to the names of thousands of martyrs inscribed on this pillar. This change will further enhance the respect for Indian culture and the heroes who contributed to the freedom struggle.”

Emphasis on removing symbols of slavery
Siddiqui stressed in the letter that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, many symbols of slavery have been removed, which has increased the sense of pride among the citizens of the country. He appealed to the PM to consider this proposal.
