Dholpur, 2 August (HS). Various sports associations of Dholpur district have demanded the construction of a multipurpose indoor stadium at the Indira Gandhi sports ground in Dholpur. In this regard, the sports development committee, city council chairman and former chief along with the officials of the sports associations submitted a memorandum to the district collector on Friday. The representatives of the sports associations said that the construction of the stadium will not cause any problem to any game nor will the ground of any game be damaged. He said that there is enough ground for cricket as well.
It has been told in the memorandum that the government has released an amount of 5 crores for the multipurpose indoor stadium at Indira Gandhi Stadium, which has been released for the first time in the sports history of Dholpur. This multipurpose indoor stadium is proposed to be built on the empty unused plot near another hall built earlier, except the football, hockey, baseball and cricket grounds at Indira Gandhi Stadium. This will provide convenience to the players of indoor games. The officials of the sports associations said that since Indira Gandhi Stadium is in the middle of the city, it is also a safe place from the security point of view for the sportswomen. They have demanded that understanding the sports spirit of all the players, a multipurpose indoor hall should be constructed at Indira Gandhi Stadium.
Among the more than two dozen sports association officials who reached the district collectorate on Friday were District Olympic Association President Upendra Dutt Sharma, Dholpur Municipal Council Chairman Khushboo Singh, District Swimming Association President Devendra Pratap Singh Jadoun, former Deputy Chairman Nishant Singh Chaudhary, Baseball Association National President Anoop Asthana, District Football Association Secretary Gurmeet Mann, Coach Sandeep Rana, District Long Tennis Association President Veer Shailendra Rana, District Volleyball Association Virendra Singh Bidhuri, Software Association Rakesh Rana, District Athletics Association Jaiveer Poswal, Kabaddi Association Hari Babu Sharma, Basketball Association Hariom Tomar, Fencing Association Atiq Faiz Daoudi, District Badminton Association Rajkumar Dagur and Secretary Mohammad Zakir Hussain, District Table Tennis Association Kavita Bhargav, Tiger Martial Arts Club Vikrant Mudgal, District Rifle Association Digvendra Singh Rana, District Wrestling Association Harendra Singh, District Boxing Association Hariom Gurjar, District Kho-Kho Association Ramveer Singh, Karate Association Kshamadan Chaudhary and Narendra Goswami and State and national level players including Anshul Rana from Handball Association were mainly present.
