New Delhi: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding an inquiry into the allegations of EVM tampering during voting in the last Lok Sabha elections. The petitioner's lawyer demanded that a committee be formed under the chairmanship of a retired Supreme Court judge to investigate the entire matter. Along with this, a demand has also been made to investigate the matter by claiming that the Election Commission has been negligent.

The petition filed by advocate Mehmood Pracha was to be heard by a bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan on Monday. However, the bench decided that the matter should first be heard by a bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna as he had earlier delivered the verdict on EVM-VVPAT.

After which the matter was later settled. Now the further hearing of this case will be done by a bench headed by Justice Sanjeev Khanna.

The petitioner has demanded that a list of violations of the EVM manual should also be prepared. Any kind of disturbance during the entire operation of EVMs before and after voting should be kept on record. Apart from this, if any negligence has been committed by the Election Commission, then that should also be taken on record. Any kind of disturbance in EVMs in the recent Lok Sabha elections should be investigated by a committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge. Earlier, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court demanding 100 percent cross verification of EVM-VVPAT data, at that time the Supreme Court had said that the doubts being raised about tampering with EVMs are baseless.
