Gopeshwar, 05 September (HS). Residents of the disaster-affected Pagano village of Jyotirmath development block of Chamoli district demonstrated at the tehsil headquarters on Thursday and sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the sub-district magistrate.
Anoop Singh Negi of the Pradhan Organization, Reema Devi, Pradhan of Pagans, said that landslides have been occurring at the upper end of the village for more than a year now, due to which many houses have been damaged by the debris and many houses are on the verge of being damaged, but no concrete steps are being taken by the government.
He demanded that the government should compensate the affected families for their houses and land on the lines of the Central Public Works Department and the village should be displaced. He also expressed his displeasure over the unnecessary delay in providing funds to the affected people by the administration.
On this occasion, Block Pramukh Harish Parmar, Pradhan Sangh President Anoop Negi, Village Pradhan Pagano Reema Devi, Pradhan Dungri Digambar Bisht, Forest Panchayat Sarpanch Pagano Suraj Singh Rana etc. were present.
