Nainital, 12 April (HS). The water level in the world famous Naini Sarovar is continuously decreasing. As a result, in the first fortnight of April itself, delta i.e. soil surface instead of water surface has started appearing at many places on the banks of the lake. The summer season has just started, when the number of tourists in the city will increase and with it the consumption of water will also increase, then the problem may increase.
In the city, water is taken indirectly from Naini Lake as drinking water i.e. from the wells built on the banks of the lake, and when the water level in these wells falls, drinking water is also taken directly from the lake and after purifying it through a filter plant, it is supplied to the households. And supplied to hotels.
May reach zero level in June
According to the lake control room, currently the water level in the lake is 3.38 feet on the prescribed scale and it will fall by two inches every three days. Even if the water level falls at the same rate, the water level of the lake may reach zero in the next 58 days i.e. by June 10 and if consumption increases, even before that. However, let us tell you that the water level of the lake falling to zero does not mean that the lake dries up completely, but rather it falls below the prescribed level. This means that instead of water, dry land will be visible around the lake.
