Ingredients for making Rajma Pulao

  • 1/2 cup kidney beans
  • 1/2 cup basmati rice
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 3 cloves
  • 2-3 green cardamoms
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 inch piece of ginger
  • 6-7 cloves of garlic
  • 2 green chillies
  • Chopped onion
  • finely chopped green coriander
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • salt to taste

How to make Rajma Pulao

  • To make Rajma Pulao, soak the kidney beans in water overnight and boil them in a cooker for about 10 minutes.
  • Soak the rice for half an hour and prepare a paste of ginger, garlic and green chillies.
  • Pour oil in the cooker and add spices like bay leaves, green cardamom, black cardamom, cinnamon, cumin seeds and cloves.
  • – Add finely chopped onion and ginger-garlic paste and fry it.
  • – Add all the dry spices and boiled kidney beans.
  • – Add salt to it and then wash the rice and drain the water.
  • Now add lemon juice and cook Rajma Pulao till 2-3 whistles.
  • – Now open the pressure cooker, stir the pulao well and add green coriander on top.
  • Delicious and nutritious Rajma Pulao is ready, eat it with chutney or curd.
